Shanice was an R&B/pop singer-songwriter at the Motown label in the early 1990s.
Her mother and aunt (who were initially interested in their own music careers) formed a management company to further Shanice’s career. She made several TV appearances as a child, even performing on a talent show. She subsequently obtained a recording contract with A&M and scored several R&B hits before signing with Motown in 1990.
Her 1991 album Inner Child has become her most successful album and spawned her best-known hit single “I Love Your Smile”, among others. She continued recording under the label, releasing several singles and her final Motown album (in 1994), achieving success on the R&B charts.
She has since returned to the charts with her subsequent two albums as well as providing backing vocals for other artists. Shanice has also done some acting and currently stars in her own reality TV show.
